The newly introduced uncapped ADSL bundles have been created with with cost-conscious consumer in mind, says Vox Telecom.

Vox Telecom yesterday cut uncapped ADSL prices in an effort to attract home Internet users.

"We've created these packages in an effort to deliver best value to our customers, both in terms of data only, and bundled line rental options. In so doing we're offering cost-conscious customers more bang for their buck," says Shane Chorley, executive head of carrier and connectivity at Vox Telecom.

Packages will range from R89 per month for a 1Mbps uncapped data only account, with the bundled offering including the ADSL line rental for R99 per month, to a full range of additional services at 2Mbps, 4Mbps and 8Mbps speeds and a 10Mbps option for R389 per month.

The new uncapped ADSL packages are an enhancement from Vox Telecom, that bundle data and line rental, at an aggressive price point for home users, says Chorley.

"There is continued demand for broadband data and these bundles aim to offer cost-effective solutions for consumers wanting better connectivity at home."

The newly introduced uncapped ADSL bundles have been created with a cost-conscious consumer (end user) in mind - the products are ideally suited to meet the needs of home users, he adds.

The products will be available on a month-to-month subscription.

Vox Telcoms' price cut follows a recent cut of ADSL costs by Internet service providers MWeb and OpenWeb to under R100 per month for a 1Mbps line.

OpenWeb is offering a 1Mbps uncapped line for R89 and a 20Mbps uncapped line for R699. The lines have no thresholds and shaping is only applied when the network is busy.

OpenWeb says its offers guaranteed unshaped access daily between midnight and 7am.

MWeb now offers two new uncapped ADSL products: a 1Mbps uncapped line will cost R79 and an 8Mbps uncapped line R439.

The network providers have made the investment and now need to attract sufficient customers to generate revenue, ICT analyst Adrian Schofield previously told ITWeb.

"With the competition from mobile services, it's good for the consumers who would like to realise the benefits of ADSL connections."
