FNB customers can pay their DStv subscriptions using the cellphone banking service.

First National Bank (FNB) customers will now be able to pay their MultiChoice pay-TV subscriptions via the bank's cellphone banking service.

In a statement, FNB says customers will be able to view their outstanding amount on their DStv accounts, make full or partial payments, as well as top up their BoxOffice accounts from their mobile devices.

"FNB is on a journey to simplify customers' lives. Enabling them with mobile and digital payments is part of that trajectory," says Shadrack Palmer, CCO of FNB service provider.

Once customers make partial or full payments towards their DStv or BoxOffice accounts, the account will be updated and the service will be reconnected immediately in the event where the service was disconnected.

Palmer adds: "This cellphone banking solution also enables customers to pay subscription fees on someone else's behalf, similar to buying airtime for another user from one's cellphone. We are simply building onto past successes to ensure customers enjoy consistent efficiency."

To use this functionality, customers need to register on FNB's cellphone banking, if not already registered. Customers can log into their FNB cellphone banking profile to view and pay outstanding amounts due on their account.
