The Department of Communications, under minister Faith Muthambi, received R10 million for the digital migration awareness campaign project.

The Department of Communications (DOC) received R10 million from the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) for the country's switch from analogue to digital broadcasting.

This is according to the Adjusted Estimates of National Expenditure 2015, which forms part of government's Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) review. The funds were transferred to the DOC following the decision to move the digital migration portfolio from the DTPS.

According to the MTBPS, the funds would be used for industry and capacity development of the digital migration process.

"R10 million has been transferred from the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services following the shift of the broadcasting digital migration function. This will be used for promoting public awareness of digital migration."
