Kholiwe Makhohliso has been appointed country manager of Oracle SA.

Oracle SA has appointed Kholiwe Makhohliso as its country manager effective 1 December.

Makhohliso, who joined Oracle in 2011, takes over from Kevin Attard, who has been acting country head since the departure of Pieter Bensch, who became MD of HP in March.

She was previously senior sales director for the applications business for Oracle SA, where she was responsible for sales across the company's product portfolio for private and public cloud.

According to Makhohliso, South African customers, like the rest of Oracle's clients around the world, are transforming their business with technology today.

"I'm excited to have the opportunity to lead Oracle South Africa as we assist our customers, partners and prospects to achieve business innovation through digital transformation."

Makhohliso joined the company as senior sales manager of public sector applications. She was previously employed at Accenture SA for seven years, holding various roles including senior management positions for consulting, business development and sales.

She is part of Oracle's Women Leadership network, which supports the growth of current and emerging women leaders within Oracle across the globe.

Makhohliso was the South African nominee for the Accenture Women in Leadership global award in 2007.

She holds a B Compt in accounting and auditing from the University of Transkei, and completed a global executive development programme with the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the 4sight Leadership Programme with Cranfield University and IESE Business School.
