Mayor of Cape Town Patricia de Lille and various EXL executives officially opened a customer support services delivery location in Cape Town yesterday.

EXL is a multinational business process solutions company.

The new local contact centre will provide English-language customer experience support services.

Speaking at the event, De Lille outlined how EXL's presence in Cape Town aligns with the city's efforts to promote economic growth and job creation.

"The decision to establish your first African base in Cape Town speaks to the city's vision to become a meeting point and connector point for markets in Africa. We want to make Cape Town for companies looking to expand into Africa."

EXL's decision to come to come to Cape Town will see the country's business process outsourcing sector create some 3 000 jobs over the next three years.

Rohit Kapoor, vice-chairman and CEO of EXL, described this new centre as the organisation's farthest venture south of the equator.

The company has 24 000 employees globally, present in eight countries across the world; across industries such as insurance, healthcare, banking and financial services, utilities, travel, transportation and logistics.

SA is a key extension of EXL's global delivery model, says Pavan Bagai, president and COO.

The centre will support regions with customer relationships conducted in English, particularly companies in the UK and Europe, but it is also provisioned to support organisations with customers located in South Africa.

"Cape Town is the latest addition to our expanding footprint, and we are excited to tap the rich talent pool within the country," said Pavan Bagai, president and COO at EXL.

He believes South Africa is a key extension of EXL's global delivery model. "We're delighted with the support we have received from our anchor UK client, local partners and advisors."
