Gartner positions Informatica as a Leader in 2015 Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools

Informatica celebrates nine years in a row as a leader; positioned highest and furthest on both "ability to execute" and "completeness of vision" axes.

Redwood City, Calif, 25 Nov 2015

Informatica, the world's number one independent software provider focused on delivering transformative innovation for the future of all things data, today announced that Gartner, a leading IT research and advisory firm, has positioned Informatica as a leader in its November 2015 Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools report, based on ability to execute and completeness of vision.

The complete report, published on 18 November, including the quadrant graphic, is available at:

Positioned as a leader for the ninth consecutive year, Informatica appears highest on the axis for "ability to execute" and farthest to the right on the axis for "completeness of vision" in the 2015 report.

In the report, Gartner Research Director Saul Judah and Vice-President and Distinguished Analyst Ted Friedman observed: "Given the scale and complexity of the data landscape, across organisations of all sizes and in all industries, tools to help automate key elements of this discipline continue to attract more interest and to grow in value. Consequently, the data quality tools market continues to show substantial growth, while also exhibiting innovation and change."

According to the Gartner report: "The data quality tools market remains dynamic, owing to its growth in size and volatility on both the supply side and the demand side. We continue to see high demand for data quality tools, including from midsize organisations (which traditionally tended not to buy them). This demand is driven partly by activities in the fields of BI and analytics (analytical scenarios), MDM (operational scenarios) and digital business. Also contributing to demand are information governance programmes, which are growing in number, and requirements to support ongoing operations, data migrations and inter-enterprise data sharing."

The Gartner report also noted: "The data quality tools market continues to grow strongly. Gartner estimates that it reached $1.4 billion in software revenue at the end of 2014. This translates into 11.6% growth in constant-dollar terms over 2013, which had brought 11.9% growth over 2012. Gartner forecasts that this market's growth will accelerate during the next few years, to 14.4% by 2017, bringing the total to $2.1 billion. This market is among the fastest growing in the enterprise software sector."

Informatica's Data Quality portfolio, including Informatica Data Quality, Data as a Service and Rev, delivers unique services, methodology and solutions to align IT architectures with business strategies, with an emphasis on repeatable data governance processes and accessibility for business users and data stewards. Through Informatica Vibe, data quality rules are able to be defined once and deployed anywhere business needs dictate - in the cloud, on-premises or on Hadoop - so organisations can proactively monitor and improve the quality of their data in a consistent and re-usable fashion regardless of underlying platforms and technologies. Additionally, industry-leading ease-of-use empowers non-technical users, such as information stewards and business analysts, to share in the responsibility for data quality and data governance across the enterprise.

"We believe that to be positioned again by Gartner as a leader in its annual Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools report is testament to our product and its capabilities," said Rob Karel, vice-president, Product Strategy and Marketing, Information Quality Solutions, Informatica. "Our solutions have come to be relied on across an immense number of complex customer scenarios and deployments. The latest iteration of the solution, Informatica Data Quality v10, takes its strengths to new levels, with improved data quality collaboration, next-gen data profiling visualisation, and the fastest performance for cleansing data in modern data warehouse targets."
