3 December is 3D printing Day and CAD House will host live demonstrations on all its printers and scanners.

3D printing technology company CAD House is opening its doors in Midrand to the general public as part of a global 3D Printing Day on 3 December.

3D Printing Day is an initiative of 3D Hubs, the online 3D printing services platform with a community of thousands of 3D printing sites worldwide. It aims to "stage a global happening where makers, enthusiasts and newbies can learn, explore, and 3D print lots of stuff".

Besides SA, hubs in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, India, Mexico, The Netherlands, Spain, UK and the US will be participating.

"We would like to invite all owners of 3D hubs in the country to join us," says CAD House's Bernhard Vogt. "We have the space - you bring your toys."

CAD House will offer special deals and host live demonstrations on all its 3D printers and scanners for anyone wanting to learn more about 3D printing, says Vogt.

Other demos will include 3D scanners for hobbyists and full body 3D scanning.

CAD House will be open to the public, school groups or anyone who has an interest from 10:00am to 8:00pm on 3 December, at Sahara Systems in Midrand.

Entrance is free.
