Apple launched the iPad Pro in September, as part of a new range of products from the technology firm.

South African consumers will be able to get their hands on the Apple iPad Pro, which can now be purchased from iStores nationwide as well as online, according to local authorised Apple distributor Core Group.

The larger iPad Pro boasts a 12.9?inch screen and features the highest?resolution retina display of any iOS device, the company says.

Other features include four new high?fidelity speakers built directly into its unibody, as well as iSight and FaceTime high-definition cameras.

The iPad Pro has a slim and light design and weighs just over 700g. It's available in silver, gold and space grey.

However, the availability of the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil is yet to be confirmed, notes Core Group.

Sales of iPads have been falling for several quarters, as big-screen iPhones appeal to more consumers.

Apple sold 54.86 million iPads in the year ended 26 September, a drop of 19% from a year earlier.
