Data Saver mode in Chrome will now save up to 70% of Android user''s data.

A new update to Chrome's Data Saver mode lets Android users save up to 70% on mobile data.

"Accessing mobile Web sites on a slow connection can be frustrating: it eats up data... With that in mind, we created Data Saver mode in Chrome, which reduces the amount of data used when you visit a Web page," said Tal Oppenheimer, Chrome product manager and speedy saver, in a blog post.

When using Data Saver, Google servers reduce the amount of data that gets downloaded when visiting a Web page.

"Now, we're updating this mode to save even more data - up to 70%! - by removing most images when loading a page on a slow connection. After the page has loaded, you can tap to show all images or just the individual ones you want, making the Web faster and cheaper to access on slow connections."

The update will be rolled out to Chrome users in India and Indonesia first, with additional countries in the coming months. Users turn on the Data Saver within the Chrome app.

It was not said when iOS users can expect to experience the same data savings.
