T-Systems South Africa has announced the executive appointment of Mike Buttner to the position of Vice President: Sales and Service Management (VP:SSM) effective 1 January 2016. This newly created role within the T-Systems organisation is aimed at enhancing the experience for T-Systems clients by providing an effective leadership role to oversee all customer and service related tasks.

Buttner previously held the role of Vice President: Delivery, where he was accountable for ensuring the successful delivery of all contracted services. The experience gained in this role will be invaluable in driving sales and service management improvements across the organisation.

"With more than 30 years of ICT experience, 28 of them in leadership roles, and eight years of experience within the T-Systems team locally and internationally, Buttner is the ideal candidate to fulfil what is increasingly a critical task within the ICT business of today," says Gert Schoonbee, Managing Director of T-Systems South Africa.

Buttner joined T-Systems South Africa in 2007 as the General Manager: Operations. In 2010, he was appointed to the T-Systems International team, operating out of the Netherlands office, as Vice President: Services for the Philips Global Account. In January 2013 Buttner re-joined the South Africa team as VP: Delivery, the position he held until his recent promotion. Over and above his membership of the T-Systems South Africa executive team, he is also a member of the extended T-Systems EMEA executive team.

He holds Diplomas in Operations and Business Management from Chartered Secretaries South Africa (CSSA) as well as Economic Leadership and Development qualifications from the Manheim Business School in Germany. In order to further his leadership skills he is currently working toward a Master's degree in Professional Development (Strategic Leadership) with the University of Middlesex in the United Kingdom (UK). He is also an active member of the Chartered Management Institute in the UK.

"Buttner's extensive career in the ICT industry continues to impact positively on our customer and service provision. The extended T-Systems International leadership and his T-Systems South Africa Executive Committee wish him success in his new portfolio," Schoonbee concludes.
