Government's one child, one tablet initiative has reached Limpopo, as the Department of Communications minister will hand out tablet devices to the best performing schools in the province.

Today, communications minister Faith Muthambi will visit various schools in the Vhembe district in Limpopo to hand out these devices.

Muthambi's first stop will be at Mtititi High School, where she will interact with leaners, teachers and members of the school governing body.

"Our view as government is that education is the cornerstone of our society and can help add more impetus to the journey of nation-building and reconciliation," said Muthambi.

"Our goal is to encourage learners to improve their performance and knowledge by making use of the ICT resources available to them. This goes towards achieving our aim of enabling easy access to information to all of our people, even those living in rural areas."

The minister will also visit other high schools, including Jim Chavani, PP Hlungwani, Peningotsa and Ximun'nwana high schools.

As part of her visit, Muthambi will also officially unveil a parliamentary office in Malamulele town.
