Distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks are a reality and the African continent has seen an immense increase in these types of cyber incidents. Nigeria has been one of the worst-hit countries during the past couple of months.
For this reason, Arbor Networks, together with its value added distributor, Networks Unlimited, are partnering with the leading ICT companies in Nigeria in order to provide a skilled service to the end-customers in the region.
Staging an event at the end of January 2016 at the InterContinental hotel in Lagos, Arbor Networks and Networks Unlimited will demonstrate how the Arbor solution can assist companies in mitigating DDOS attacks.
"There is a huge requirement for skilled and capable vendors to provide East and West African companies with leading security solutions that can assist in the mitigation, detection and identification of such attacks. Arbor Networks, as the worldwide leader and top supplier of DDOS mitigation appliances, has the experience and technology to assist the carrier, enterprise and mobile market segments by combating and eliminating these detrimental attacks," says Bryan Hamman, territory manager for sub-Saharan Africa at Arbor Networks.
He continues, "Encapsulating 15 years of experience in delivering security as well as network visibility solutions and products, Arbor Networks today secures the networks of the world's largest enterprise against advanced threats. Nigeria has become one of Arbor's main focus regions on the African continent and, as such, a strong emphasis has been placed on growing Arbor Networks as a brand and product in the region."
Highlights at the event will be illustrating how Arbor's hybrid DDOS solutions are today's best practice solutions for both on premises and the cloud. Powered by the world's most widely deployed DDOS protection technology, Arbor Cloud delivers a unique, integrated combination of on-premises and cloud-based mitigation for protection from the full spectrum of modern DDOS attacks.
"On-premises protection guards against state-exhausting attacks aimed at the security infrastructure of the enterprise. It also helps prevent stealthy attacks that bypass firewalls and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and target business-critical applications. Meanwhile, our global, multi-terabit, on-demand traffic scrubbing service defends against volumetric DDOS attacks that are too large to be mitigated on-premises. It's all supported by Arbor's 24x7 Security Operations Center, which is staffed by our DDOS and security experts. Arbor Cloud brings the availability of your network, services and applications back under your control," explains Hamman.
Delegates will also be introduced to Arbor's new product release, Advanced Threat, a solution that leverages integrated Netflow and Packet Capture technology for network-wide situational awareness, broad and deep traffic visibility and security intelligence, which transforms threat detection and incident response through real-time and historical insights, through real-life visualisation and forensics. "Arbor's Security Analytics protect the most critical assets from advanced threats that are within networks," adds Hamman.
