GoPro users can now live-stream their action activities, such as mountain biking.

Action camera-maker GoPro now integrates with Twitter's live-streaming app Periscope - if users have the right devices.

Users of GoPro's HERO4 Black or HERO4 Silver cameras can now broadcast the camera's live footage directly to Periscope, provided they also have an iPhone 5S or newer.

The most recent version of the Periscope app, currently only available on iPhones, now detects the user's GoPro when it is paired with their phone, allowing them not only to broadcast from the action camera, but to flip between streaming from it and their iPhone's camera.

This two-camera setup is popular among streamers, as it allows them to broadcast both themselves (via their phone's front-facing camera) and their point of view (via the strategically-placed GoPro) as they do a particular activity. Many GoPro users, for example, use the devices to film themselves doing sports such as snowboarding.

The GoPro cameras will also save the live-streamed footage onto their SD cards for permanent storage.

This integration is not the action camera company's first foray into the live-streaming market. In July last year, it integrated with Periscope rival Meerkat. The company also sells a device called the HEROCast, a wireless transmitter facilitating live-streaming from the cameras.
