Gartner's Aspiring Innovators programme returns for the second year.
Gartner's Aspiring Innovators programme returns for the second year.

For the second year in a row, African start-up technology companies will get the chance to showcase their solutions to enterprise organisations at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Africa.

Gartner launched the Aspiring Innovators programme last year to support the start-up technology scene and provide access to innovative local technology providers.

Selected by Gartner research analysts, the start-up companies have the opportunity to describe what they are doing in front of an audience who are looking for solutions and they are able to talk with senior IT decision-makers who visit their stands.

At last year's event, the six selected South African companies (Build, Clevva, Encentivize, Mapzania, Nandie, Wyzetalk) took advantage of the opportunity to build their brand and expand their early customer base.

MTN Business returns as the corporate sponsor of the Aspiring Innovator programme. The selected innovators will join MTN Business on the ITxpo show floor to show and discuss their products with symposium delegates.

Gartner is looking for start-ups that meet the following criteria:

* A company based in Africa.
* A start-up with fewer than 50 employees and less than R20 million revenue.
* A product or solution that supports B2B or corporate B2C use cases (no purely consumer products).
* A product or solution in production or beta, with at least two customers.
* Must not have been chosen for any previous Aspiring Innovator programmes.

Companies meeting these criteria can apply by sending contact details, a company CV and a short description of why their product is innovative via e-mail by 26 February.

This year's Gartner Symposium will take place in Cape Town from 26 to 28 September.
