Through the SAP Skills for Africa initiative, BluePencil and several other partners have successfully trained 75 recent University graduates with the assistance of MICT Seta.

"The 75 interns who attended training through the South African chapter of the SAP Skills for Africa programme will now spend time working in the SAP ecosystem alongside professional staff in provincial government and private sector companies doing the configuration, customisation and support activities of SAP systems. They will all be playing a role in jobs that contribute towards South Africa's future economic growth and infrastructure development," says Samantha Snyman, Managing Director of BluePencil Education Services.

SAP Africa recognises that skills development, with a view to concrete job creation, is one of the best ways to deal with the skills shortages facing the technology industry. In addition, it helps address Africa's chronic youth unemployment issue. BluePencil supports all these objectives.

"This would not be possible without developing the right skills and creating the right jobs in the communities in which SAP does business. BluePencil is proud to be part of the programme and looks forward to future partnerships," adds Snyman.

The SAP Skills for Africa initiative is the first of its kind in the industry and aims to assist selected students by training them in business and programming so that they may develop into world-class IT professionals. In South Africa, this initiative represents collaboration between SAP Africa and local SAP customers and partners, including government and the private sector.
