Systems integrator Dimension Data has taken rival Datacentrix to court, together with the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and 12 other ICT service providers, over a R500 million tender.

In a SENS statement, the JSE-listed Datacentrix says it has been cited in an application brought in the High Court of SA by Dimension Data.

It adds the application seeks to review and set aside the bid award involving the provision, implementation, maintenance and support of a court recording technology solution which was awarded in January 2015 by the justice department to Datacentrix, on the grounds set out in section 6(2) of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, 2000 (Act 3 of 2000).

Datacentrix points out it is taking legal advice on the matter.

According to an EWN report, the justice department awarded the R500 million tender for the court recording equipment despite an internal audit report finding several irregularities in a bidding process.

The investigation found inconsistencies in shortlisting bidders during the functionality phase when Dimension Data was excluded from the process, and that some bidders' scores were changed on the evaluation forms, the report adds.

Dimension Data was disqualified from the process in the first round, despite being the department's service provider for the previous nine years. The winning company's proposal was allegedly also R200 million more expensive.

Responding to ITWeb this morning, Dimension Data said: "This matter is sub judice, and as such, Dimension Data is not permitted to comment until there is a judgement on the case."
