Increase productivity by monitoring

Johannesburg, 04 May 2016

It seems that companies cannot operate efficiently, if at all, without their IT infrastructure. Each small part of an often massive whole needs to be working at maximum efficiency as much as possible. Ensuring that this happens is no small task and requires constant monitoring.

Many companies are not able to function without their PABX systems or Internet access. Without the PABX system, incoming calls cannot be routed to the correct individual and outgoing calls are just not possible. A lack of Internet often prevents the retrieval and sending of e-mail. A combination of these two problems prevents employees from communicating efficiently within the company and severely stymies their ability to communicate with clients. An extended period of no communication can have a serious negative effect on client relationships. The only solution to this is constant monitoring of the systems used by the company to operate.

This kind of monitoring involves the use of a system which tests each portion of a particular network on a periodic basis and notifies the relevant individual by a chosen method of communication should something go wrong. This implies that the system needs round the clock supervision and care. A technician needs to be available to attend to an issue the minute it arises to prevent potential downtime and loss of productivity.

Such a high level of monitoring is especially vital when companies run software on internal servers or have mail servers operating from the offices. Should the internal server suffer from overload or become unavailable due to crashing, the company will not be able to raise invoices, issue quotes or fulfil orders. This causes all work in the company grind to a halt and can seriously affect a company's income.

IT Specialists should also be able to diagnose and fix problems with any portion of the network, from the internal servers and software programs which operate on those servers to the company's WiFi and e-mail systems. This means that a wide range of skills and responsibility needs to rest on the shoulders of a single person.

The problem that many companies face is the choice of a compromise between employing many specialists with the necessary skills or attempting to find a single individual who can meet multiple requirements. This can be either a great drain on resources or leave gaps in the technical support within the company.

At Sintrex we believe that the ideal solution to solving this is an efficient monitoring solution. The monitoring should cover a wide range of technologies, thus minimising the need for expensive specialist resources and having a system that pin points root cause issue as they happen and route them to the correct IT staff that can resolve timeously. The cost of an end-to-end system is lower than the cost of employing multiple IT specialists and client can be assured of having measure and metrics on hand to ensure that the company infrastructure and service providers operates optimally.
