Fortinet, a cyber security solutions provider, has signed a partnership agreement with distributor Core Networks for the distribution of its wireless security solutions in South Africa.

Core Networks, with its extensive channel network and experience in the enterprise wireless space, will help foster Fortinet's penetration into South African-based businesses, says Core Networks.

Core Networks, being a value-added distributor, will sell only via authorised partners, it adds.

With the appointment of Core Networks, Fortinet will expand its footprint and increase its channel focus for all its partners and customers, says Andre van Zyl, channel accounts manager at Fortinet SA. It will also go a long way in driving the technology into the market, he notes.

According to Anton de Jager, owner at Core Networks, with security and WiFi uptake growing at a staggering rate per year, all the vertical markets are investing in enterprise WiFi.

"Thanks to our new partnership with Fortinet, the WiFi solutions we can take to our customers are now secure and backed with Fortinet's extensive on-the-ground technical, sales and marketing support."

The partnership will give partners that are only WiFi-focused the opportunity to access Fortinet Secure Access architecture and provide these security features to their customer base, says De Jager.

He points out Core Networks aims to build and establish a strong, focused channel dedicated to taking Fortinet's secure access architecture solution to market.

Wireless has become an integral part of the security portfolio as customers need to ensure that these borderless networks are now protected under the same security requirements as their fixed networks, says Paul Williams, major account manager at Fortinet.

This partnership will combine the best of both worlds as security and wireless are joining providing the ability combat the ongoing threats, adds Williams.

"Industry is adopting wireless and WiFi as the medium to connect. Just think of Internet of things how that would affect the market space in the next few years. The main threat is poor security practices and lack of strong partners to implement solution correctly, says Van Zyl.

"With this appointment we will successfully build and establish a strong, focused channel dedicated to taking Fortinet's secure access architecture solution to market."
