Sage, the global market leader for integrated accounting, payroll and payment systems, will assist MAD Leadership Foundation to make even more of a difference to the lives of talented youngsters by reducing the time the team spends on administration and reporting. Parity Software is the Sage business partner that oversaw the project, with the solution recently going live.

Make A Difference (MAD) Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by former Springbok captain Francois Pienaar, will be able to improve its service to the students on its scholarship programme, as well as to its corporate partners and individual supporters following the implementation of the Sage X3 and Sage CRM business management solutions.

MAD Leadership Foundation identifies academically talented scholars who do not have the necessary financial resources, and offers them support in the areas of education, leadership and life-skills development. It offers comprehensive support for each scholar from Grade 8 until completion of tertiary education.

With 137 scholars on the Scholar Wellness, Development and Support Programme, as well as numerous sponsors, donors, and supporters attending its fundraising golf days and participating in sporting events to raise funds and awareness for MAD Leadership Foundation, the organisation needs a robust business system to manage its data.

Says Pienaar: "Our organisation has grown exponentially over the past few years, demanding that we take our business processes and systems to the next level. Sage business management solutions will enable us to grow without limits and make more effective use of our resources to support the future leaders on our programme. Our corporate partners, meanwhile, will benefit from comprehensive reports on how their investment is helping to develop our country's next generation of leaders."

Sage provided 10 licences of Sage X3 and 20 Sage CRM business management solutions to MAD Leadership Foundation to help the organisation streamline its business processes, enhance relationships with stakeholders, and improve its access to reporting information. Parity Software agreed to provide implementation and consulting services at no cost.

The Foundation uses Sage X3 to capture transactions, income and costs accurately, in turn enabling accurate reporting around projects, donors, scholars, mentors and other stakeholders. It uses Sage Intelligence as its primary management reporting tool.

The Web-based CRM function allows the operational and management team to see information about key stakeholders at a glance. Tight integration between the Sage X3 and Sage CRM system will ensure that MAD Leadership Foundation has correct information at its fingertips as it manages its stakeholder relationships and projects.

"The right technology can make an enormous difference for non-profit organisations like MAD Leadership Foundation, as they seek to maximise the impact of their limited resources," says Ken Fargher, chairman at Parity Software. "The Sage solutions will help it to stay focused on what really matters - developing the leaders of tomorrow - by streamlining its business processes, improving its reporting processes, and giving it a single view of its stakeholders."

This means that MAD Leadership Foundation will be able to concentrate on recruiting staff that work directly with scholars rather than needing to grow its administrative overhead. The Financial, Fund Development and Marketing Departments, as well as the Scholar Support Unit, now have a single consistent view into their stakeholder relationships so they can deliver a great experience to the individuals that matter.

Importantly, Sage allows the organisation to manage sensitive data in a manner that complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act. MAD Leadership Foundation needs to report quarterly and annually to corporate partners on its use of their scholarship funding as well as the academic, sporting and other achievements of scholars funded by these corporate partners. This once time-consuming process is now automated, reducing the possibility of error and freeing staff up from tedious manual work with spreadsheets.

"We believe in a socially responsible world and in playing a positive role in communities and with entrepreneurs. For us this is the right way to do business," says Keith Fenner, Vice-President Sage X3 International. "I will also be dedicating my time and expertise through the Sage Foundation to support MAD Leadership Foundation's effort to develop talented scholars with leadership potential. I'm excited that our solutions will help such a worthy organisation to drive even better returns out of the money it is investing in South Africa's future."
