The upcoming Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation (FOCAC) summit will focus on co-operation between China and Africa on media-related matters.

This is according to SA GovNews, SA will drive the implementation of agreements reached at last year's Johannesburg summit. The FOCAC summit aims to promote multistate ties and co-operation between China and Africa.

Deliberations at this year's event will centre on policy exchange on broadcasting and film between China and Africa, media co-operation and capacity building, as well as digitisation and development of new media, reads the statement.

The FOCAC summit will be attended by Government Communication and Information System acting director-general, Donald Liphoko. Liphoko is scheduled to deliver a speech on behalf of communications minister Faith Muthambi at the opening ceremony of the three-day forum.

"The central aim of the forum will be to implement the agreements reached at the FOCAC Summit in Johannesburg and further strengthen exchanges and co-operation between China and Africa on media-related matters," said Liphoko.

Last year, Muthambi attended China's Ministerial Workshop on Development and TV Media for developing countries.

The workshop focused on the development and management of radio and TV media exchanges and co-operation between China and other developing countries.

During the workshop, China shared its achievements and experience on reforms, management and development of provincial-level radio and TV media, media convergence and media reform and development, as well as the development of China's TV news reports.
