Facebook has announced a few new ways for Google's Chrome browser users to share, save and engage with content on the social network.

The company said its users share an average of 75 million articles, videos and photos per day on the network. It also said that over 300 million people are using its new 'save' feature, and consume the content within a week of saving.

Facebook is now extending both these services beyond the platform, to users' Web browsers.

"If you're a Chrome user, you can now save and share things from the web to Facebook with a click of a button. Updates have also been made to Facebook's Like, Share, Send, Follow, Recommend, and Save buttons that you interact with on Web site and mobile apps," Facebook said in a statement.

The new Chrome browser button allows users to save articles, videos and photos from around the Web for later reading, within Facebook.

To access saved content, users will have to login to the social network. Saved content can be accessed in a dedicated bookmark on the left hand side of users' newsfeeds on the Web version of Facebook.

The company also has a new Chrome extension that allows users to share content from any Web site to Facebook, without being logged into the network or having to find social share buttons within the site's page.

The extensions are free and available to download in the Chrome Web Store.

The updated social plugin buttons (Share, Send, Follow, Recommend, and Save) will all be e the same colour, and Like and Share counts will be clearly shown.

These buttons will soon be integrated into Instant Articles.
