Commvault has promoted Johan Scheepers to the position of systems engineering director for the Middle East, SA and Turkey (MESAT).

Scheepers, previously account manager of the company, will be tasked with enhancing its focus on emerging markets.

According to the enterprise data protection and information management firm, he will manage the pre-sales teams across MESAT. He will also assist with enterprise deals in the region, with regards to design and configuration.

Bassam Hemdan, area VP of Commvault, believes this appointment recognises the significance of emerging markets to the organisation and its aim to provide high levels of service to customers in these countries.

"With more than 10 years of experience at Commvault, as well as a wealth of experience in sales, pre-sales and the technology space, Johan was the ideal candidate for the position.

"Scheepers' primary effort will be on developing enterprise skills and expertise within the MESAT teams, which will ultimately benefit Commvault's end-user customer base through an enhanced customer experience. Our goal is to strengthen our focus on MESAT as a region," Hemdan adds.

Scheepers joined Commvault in 2006 as a technical account manager after gaining experience as a systems analyst and holding positions across the sales spectrum. He worked at various global IT organisations for over two decades, including a number of storage firms.

In 2010, he was promoted to principal systems engineer at Commvault in addition to his account manager role, a position he held until his most recent appointment. During his time at Commvault, he earned certifications including Commvault Technical Sales Professional Certificate and a Commvault Solutions Architect Certificate. He was also recognised as the Commvault systems engineer of the year for Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2013.

"I am excited to face the challenges and opportunities that my new role at Commvault will bring. I am looking forward to tackling the needs of this market and assisting customers to address their information management requirements with our solutions," comments Scheepers.
