XON and NEC are hosting their annual two-day summit at Legends Golf & Safari Lodge, on 18 and 19 August this year.

The invitation-only summit last year attracted delegates from some of Africa's largest and most respected organisations, including Telecom Namibia, Somtel, Baharicom, Teraco, South African Revenue Service (SARS), TN Mobile, Telkom, Vodacom, South Africa's Department of Education, FNB, BT and others.

"Our theme this year will be Bringing Tomorrow to Africa Today, discussing smart cities with a safety and security challenge focus in a nuanced African perspective," says Carel Coetzee, CEO of XON. "We'll also have panel discussions around smart energy solutions, analytical intelligence in a connected world, and small to medium business (SMB) market trends in Africa."

Four hundred delegates attended last year's summit and XON and NEC expect a similar turnout this year, drawn from Africa's foremost executives inspiring change. They will have the opportunity to engage panellists on three primary tracks:

Smart Energy Solutions
Analytical Intelligence in a Connected World
SMB - Africa's Brighter Tomorrow

XON and NEC invite guest speakers from around the globe. Past speakers have included Bradley Marden, Coordinator Digital Crime Investigative Support at INTERPOL, who discussed security in a connected world. Guest speakers this year will reveal the challenges the continent faces today and how businesses and organisations can co-operate for a brighter, sustainable African future. Delegates will view the consequences of emerging and entrenched global safety and security threats in a localised scenario countered by integrated, intelligent, and economic resource application and deployment.

"Our topics are carefully chosen to focus on what delegates find most relevant to address the pressing issues they face today and will increasingly face in the near future," says Eugene le Roux, president and MD of NEC Africa.

Attendees hail from South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Angola, Botswana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Namibia, Dubai, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Nigeria, Mozambique, with vendors and guest panellists from the UK, US, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland, Dubai, Australia, and South Africa.

XON is a systems integrator with core expertise in networking and telecommunications technologies broadening to information management, cloud, information security, retail, and outsourcing and professional services, serving organisations that include the continent's leading telecommunications companies, some of the leading financial services organisations, and the largest government departments. It creates solutions based on equipment and software from companies like Juniper Networks, F5, Infinera, Symantec, ADVA, Procera, Trend, Intel Security, and Ruckus, which sponsor this year's summit.

NEC Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, invested in XON, the sub-Sahara African ICT group, in November 2015, and the two organisations have an integrated market approach that combines their local expertise in the region to provide greater sales coverage in the sub-Sahara African market and accelerates regional growth for both companies in the telecoms, government, enterprise and energy sectors.
