Tendopro has launched online mathematics revision material for learners in grades 8-12.

Grade 8-12 maths learners can now access revision material online via Tendopro.

Tendopro is a free to use e-learning and revision tool that offers an interactive and fun-based approach towards revision learning, accessible via a Web site.

Jerome Maggerman, COO for Tendopro, says the e-revision tool was first introduced in April as a soft launch and this week marked its official launch.

We visited various schools in Johannesburg and Cape Town to spread awareness and to get learners to register, he says. "The feedback and responses we've received from learners and teachers has surpassed our expectations."

All the learning content on Tendopro is aligned with the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements curriculum and supports the National Curriculum Statements and IEB syllabus.

Although the e-revision tool currently offers maths, subjects like physical and life science, accounting and maths literacy will be made available on the platform over the next few weeks.

The tool harnesses the power of social media and technology and combines these with the very best of local and international multimedia educational content, aligned to the CAPS curriculum, he explains.

Maggerman says: "Our main objective is to create equitable access to quality education support outside the classroom. We identified a need to provide learners with on-demand revision support when they leave the school, but making sure we enable broad access to a wider community, by harnessing the power of technology, thereby bridging the divide between teacher and learner."

Tendopro can be accessed using 3G or WiFi. The education department has been rolling out WiFi at schools so if a teacher or learner wanted to access Tendopro at school, this would be possible via WiFi or 3G, notes Maggerman.

"Tendopro is designed to work outside the classroom and therefore builds on the foundation created by the teacher in the classroom. We assist learners to solidify, recap and consolidate subject topics when they are not at school. We therefore become an extension of the teacher ensuring learning does not stop when the bell rings."

When using the tool learners can also accumulate points called Tendoberries, which they can use to redeem against rewards like airtime and tablets.

"The emphasis is not to place focus on making the tool just about the rewards, but it's about instilling a behaviour with learners that teaches them that with anything in life one needs to put in the effort to reap the rewards," says Maggerman.
