Companies are faced with the challenge of securing their corporate data on mobile devices. David Moncur, technical account manager for enterprise mobility at Samsung Mobile South Africa, will run a workshop at the ITWeb's Enterprise Mobility Summit that will give the delegates practical know-how to ensure their data is protected.

"We will look into solutions on how to separate this information on your mobile workforce devices and how you can manage your corporate-owned mobile devices to prevent possible misuse," said Moncur.

"As your workforce becomes more mobile, you will need corporate policies and processes in place to help you manage and enable your employee's mobile devices," he continued.

The workshop is aimed at giving practical and tangible tips on how companies can secure their mobile devices, enabling a mobile enterprise. "We will have hands-on session that will delve into practical examples on how to manage your mobile workforce with IT policies; limiting what can be done on a device, pushing down applications to your workforce, separating personal and corporate information through containerisation; enrolment of new corporately owned mobile devices easily and quickly with minimal to zero support from corporate IT," Moncur elaborated.

"Business needs sometimes require significant customisation of mobile devices, whether these devices are for internal use or devices that you want to pass on to your local customers," he said. "Device customisation is a set of comprehensive tools and services that allow businesses to transform out-of-the-box devices into purpose-built appliances for their specific technical requirements in various industries. Examples are usage of devices for kiosk environments in sectors such as retail, logistics, and education, amongst others," he pointed out.
