University Hospitals (UH), a US-based health care provider, is working with Avanade, a digital innovator on the Microsoft platform, to support its transition to a digital workplace and create a high-performing culture, drive innovation and enhance nurse and physician engagement.

UH will work with Avanade to design and execute a new mobile-friendly intranet which leverages Microsoft SharePoint to provide an enhanced user experience. The solution aims to improve the quality of care for patients by facilitating employee access and engagement while driving effective communication and collaboration.

The solution will also provide UH employees with a customised persona-based interface targeting different roles, facilitate social collaboration through Yammer and allow hospital clinicians to easily search for information related to their relevant daily tasks. Upon completion, UH will enhance its ability to expedite the on-boarding of new hospitals within its network as well as connecting all remote locations.

Greg Harrison, chief communications officer at UH, says as its network of hospitals continues to grow, UH needed to explore the latest digital workplace solutions to drive employee engagement, facilitate integration, enhance productivity, build effective communication and collaboration and enhance the user experience of its systems.

He added Avanade's combination of experience design and Microsoft expertise will help ensure UH provides a great user experience that will ultimately improve the level of care it provides to its patients.

According to Eric Miquelon, Avanade's senior vice president, Central Region, the healthcare industry is an early adopter of digital technologies and Avanade is excited by the opportunity to help UH through the process of transforming its workforce. He says by being digital on the inside, UH is well positioned to ensure patients have a good experience with every interaction.
