ITWeb's Digital Economy Summit 2016

This is "the" event to attend this year if you are serious about going digital in your organisation. If you want to build a roadmap for a successful digital business, book your seat now. For sponsorship opportunities, contact Debbie Visser. Avoid disappointment and book your seat early.

"What does digital transformation mean for professionals on a personal level? How do professionals stay relevant in a digital world?" asked Naeem Seedat, digital government lead at Accenture. Seedat will be conducting a half-day workshop at the ITWeb Digital Economy Summit 2016 in October. The workshop is aimed at demystifying the digital economy and unpacking what it means to go digital.

Delegates attending this workshop will walk out knowing exactly what to do in their own organisations to be digital. This workshop is in line with the theme of the event: Building a roadmap for a successful digital business.

Another speaker at the event, Craig Wing, partner, FutureWorld International, will discuss the workforce of the future. "Digital disruption brings a great deal of change into the workforce. Being young and well-educated does not count anymore," said Wing.

Wing will discuss how, in this 'future world', drones compete with autonomous vehicles for transport rights; energy creation is decentralised into neighbourhood micro-plants of self-generation; and product creation is limited only by your imagination.

"It will no longer be a question of if you will buy a 3D printer, but rather, in which room will you put the 3D printer. In order to survive, the future workforce will need to nurture the attributes that machines are not yet able to replicate: creativity and innovation, risk tolerance, quantum relationships and 'humanness'," he explained.

Digitalisation brings with it risk, and Nerushka Deosaran, senior associate and business development manager at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, will discuss how to assess risk associated with digital economy.

"Digital business tools, products and services are increasingly technology neutral by virtue of convergence. They can be deployed on a variety of platforms, including computers, fixed-line communications, mobile phones, over the Internet, or in the cloud, and in a range of other operating environments and delivery channels. Digital enablement and technologies lie at the heart of every business and industry sector. With this opportunity, comes risk," she added.

She will give the overview of current digital risks facing business. "Understanding the legal framework regulating the digital economy is very important as well as knowing future tech trends and the future risks they may bring," concluded Deosaran.
