Dates set for third Brainstorm CIO Survey and Banquet

The results of SA's only CIO survey will be released at the annual ITWeb Brainstorm CIO Banquet, run by ITWeb Brainstorm in conjunction with MTN Business.

Johannesburg, 02 Sep 2016

Preparations are under way for the most prestigious event for CIOs in South Africa. The results of the much-anticipated ITWeb Brainstorm CIO Survey, now in its third year, will be revealed at the prestigious ITWeb Brainstorm CIO Banquet 2016 on Thursday 27 October at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The majority of chief information officers' (CIOs') roles in SA are changing. This is one of the biggest takeaways from the Brainstorm CIO Survey 2015, which attracted 188 responses from local CIOs, up from 158 in 2014 when the survey was introduced.

Run by ITWeb Brainstorm in conjunction with MTN Business, the survey encourages local CIOs to tell it like it is when it comes to the relationship between technology and business, and their own roles in the relationship. This is the only survey that focuses on South African CIOs and their challenges.

Most CIOs think that the survey results are very helpful as they can play a key role in IT strategy formulation, specifically with regards to daily challenges the CIO has to face. South Africa has a unique business landscape, thus it is critical that the current IT executives are equipped with the correct tools for the job at hand. They also help in guiding CIOs in the key decisions they make and intend to make across their portfolios and assists them with strategic prioritisation in their firms.

"We are hoping to exceed last year's respondent base from across major industries and public sector departments," says Ranka Jovanovic, editorial director at ITWeb Group.

"There is a strong demand for research based on insights from local CIOs. To emphasise this point, a lot of CIOs have been enquiring about the survey whilst the IT suppliers have been requesting results from last year," she continued.

"We are looking forward to this year's survey results as they will let us know where the IT community is headed this year," she concluded.
