Obsidian Systems, the leader in open source technology development, services and solutions, has cemented its support of South Africa's DevOps community with confirmation that it will be participating in the Africa DevOps 2016 conference, scheduled for 29 September.

Software specialist Atlassian is a gold sponsor of the event, and Obsidian Systems, being an Atlassian authorised training provider, will use the platform to outline its value proposition.

Hosted by FirstRand, the theme of this year's conference is: 'DevOps Skills for the Future - The Next Generation', and has been organised to shed light on the next generation of DevOps experts and identify ways to entrench the value of these skills in industry.

Obsidian, in proud association with its industry partners GuruHut and Autumn Leaf, uses the combined skills and experience of its development teams to provide unique solutions to clients.

Visitors will be treated to a live demo on how to deploy a server in the cloud using the power of the Atlassian stack. By creating a JIRA workflow, an automated process will review code from Bitbucket, and then activate a Bamboo process to do the deployment with Ansible at Digital Ocean.

As a recognised leading solutions and skills provider, Obsidian has extensive knowledge of Atlassian products and has first-hand experience in dealing with this technology for the past three years.

Muggie van Staden, Managing Director of Obsidian Systems, says the company sees the value of highlighting skills development, case studies and the presentations of thought leaders who can share experiences and help identify challenges in the industry.

"Enterprise software development is crucial to the maturity of businesses and the ability to leverage technology and innovation to enhance operations. The need to digitise and evolve using technology means that DevOps skills will become even more sought-after," says Van Staden.

As an established leader in the open source architecture space, Obsidian Systems has over 20 years' experience with open source technology and its influence on DevOps.

"We are very proud to support this event and look forward to listening to the many thought leaders and renowned industry experts in their discussion about the progress South Africa's DevOps ecosystem is making," Van Staden adds.
