MTN Business to showcase Aspiring Innovators at Gartner ITxpo

Johannesburg, 26 Sep 2016

MTN Business will give leading ICT entrepreneurs a boost this month, when it sponsors the Gartner ITxpo Aspiring Innovators programme for the second year running.

The Gartner Symposium/ITxpo Africa 2016, to be staged in Cape Town from 26-28 September, is expected to attract over 1 100 CIOs and senior IT executives engaging with peers, Gartner analysts and industry leaders. Delegates will learn how to take advantage of digital opportunities to transform their organisations, and evolve their own IT leadership to drive change and become central to the new digital business world.

Mandisa Ntloko, General Manager: Enterprise Marketing at MTN Business South Africa, explains: "The Aspiring Innovators programme, run by Gartner, highlights interesting African start-up technology companies who have something unique to offer enterprise organisations. The goal of this programme is to both support African technology start-ups and provide ITxpo delegates with access to innovative local technology providers."

Start-up companies will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions alongside MTN Business, where they will also network with MTN clients and event delegates. At last year's event, the six selected South African companies took advantage of the opportunity to build their brand and expand their early customer base.

"MTN Business' sponsorship of the Aspiring Innovators programme is in line with our involvement in numerous development initiatives and start-up challenges," adds Ntloko. "We believe that supporting start-ups benefits the economy as a whole. By fostering innovative entrepreneurs, we are helping to bring to market potentially disruptive technologies that can benefit all South African businesses."

MTN Business will also participate in a panel discussion at ITxpo Africa 2016, on the theme: 'Gearing for tomorrow's organisations today: A digitally agile culture for a successful workforce' at 10:15am on 27 September. Val Moodley, Senior Manager Cloud at MTN Business, will join Gartner Analyst and moderator, Jeffrey Mann; FNB Business Banking CIO, Peter Alkema; Wyzetalk CEO, Gysbert Kappers; and Roger Norton, Head of Technology at Domestly, to unpack questions such as nurturing digital entrepreneurship, creating a digital culture and lessons for corporates on how to make their processes and procedures agile, innovative and fast.

"MTN Business believes in South Africa's innovation and business growth potential, but also, we know that the time has come for traditional business models to evolve into more digitally agile organisations in line with future markets," concludes Ntloko.
