Open source enterprise platform provider SUSE has introduced a new channel partner programme to help its partners address the key needs of customers.

According to the company, the programme focuses on four SUSE solution areas: enterprise Linux, software-defined storage, OpenStack cloud, and systems management.

Matthew Lee, regional manager at SUSE Africa, says the programme will provide sales and technical training for qualifying partners.

"Partners that resell our open source enterprise technology will benefit from new training and certification pathways and enhanced profitability schemes that recognise and reward the investment and commitment made by our partners."

Lee says the programme's benefits are based on the partners' ability to acquire skills around the company's products rather than meeting sales targets.

"These benefits include 24/7 technical support for our most valued partners, as well as rebates of up to 30% in addition to the margin they receive from their usual sources."

SUSE says the programme features a streamlined online portal for partners that provides access to the latest product information and sales tools. The training and certification is available online, in the classroom or via SUSE's academy system, it adds.

"Enterprise IT customers need to be able to adapt quickly to changes in their markets, and so do their technology providers," said Ronald de Jong, president of sales at SUSE.

"That's why we're making it easier for our reseller partners to find and use the tools that will help them provide the right SUSE solutions to their customers, which is the most important part of the equation."

The PartnerNet partner programme that served SUSE, Novell and NetIQ will no longer be active when SUSE's partner programme goes live, says the SUSE Web site.

The Novell and NetIQ brands will be represented in the Micro Focus partner programme and the SUSE brand will be represented in the SUSE partner programme, it adds.

According to the Web site, the new arrangement will enable SUSE to provide communications and resources specific to its partners.
