VMworld Europe 2016 kicked off in Barcelona this week.

"With ten thousand attendees, it's not just a VMWare event, it's an industry event," said Jean-Pierre Brulard, senior vice president and general manager of VMware EMEA.

"Among the audience there are many of the most elite tech certifications. There are also several thousand people watching online representing over 96 countries."

In addition, he said there were over 2 000 customers from VMware's user group, VMUG, and 2 900 partners he described as "critical to VMware's success".

Themed 'be tomorrow', the event promises four days of innovation to accelerate VMware users' journeys to software-defined business. "Together we will transform our industry for tomorrow," added Brulard.

Inclusion

The company is also debuting VMInclusion, an initiative aimed at addressing the issues of diversity and inclusion. "VMware is committed to building tomorrow with inclusion and diversity, and introduced this initiative to address the importance of this for VMware and the community as a whole. Alison Woodward, a research professor at the Free University of Brussels, will be presenting during the opening."

In addition, VMworld offers training, education and industry insights to customers to take their businesses to the next level.

"There are hundreds of sessions on today's most important topics, such as unified hybrid cloud, cloud management and services, hyper-converged infrastructure, business mobility and network virtualisation," he concluded.
