Sentech continued to make strides in fulfilling its mandate by running the business prudently, says CEO Mlamli Booi.

Sentech, the state-owned broadcasting signal distributor, has achieved an unqualified audit opinion for the fourth consecutive year.

"Sentech achieved 82.53% on all the key performance indicators it had committed to during the 2015/2016 financial year," according to a government statement.

"This included network availability of 99.89%, customer satisfaction levels achieving an above target at 72%, connectivity of 34 community radio broadcasters and 31 SABC language expansion realised."

Total revenue for the financial year increased by 7% to R1.18 billion, up from R1.1 billion in the previous financial year.

"We have achieved over 80% of all the key milestones we had committed to for the period under review. We continued to make strides in fulfilling our mandate by running our business prudently and focusing on growth areas," according to Sentech CEO Mlamli Booi.

"The company's annual financial statements complied with International Financial Reporting Standards, and the reported revenues, expenditures, assets and liabilities provide a strong foundation for strengthening Sentech's long-term sustainability.

"Furthermore, there were no instances of non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations that had an impact on the company," adds Booi.
