"Everyone is looking at the horizon to figure out how to move their business, and their voice, forward in order to stay relevant. There are numerous challenges facing businesses and constant innovations and emerging technologies that are aimed at reducing the number of challenges.
Ultimately, however, the technology that will rule the world is the technology that will remove complexity. The keyword is simplicity - actually, no. It is SimpliVity."
This was the opening statement by Jacques Malherbe, Managing Executive Advanced Technologies CTO, at the AxizWorkgroup and SimpliVity partner event on 11 October 2016. The event, which was held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton, was aimed at providing an overview of the newly formed partnership and how it will change the face of IT.
According to Christo Briedehann, SimpliVity Director for Africa, the way in which technology works is changing. There is a decline in traditional IT and clear growth in cloud, but the biggest growth is seen in the hyper-converged technology sector.
SimpliVity's mission is to simplify technology by running all the technology in the datacentres of its customers. This technology allows customers to move all their data and technology with one server, the x86. With hyper-convergence as the end goal in mind, SimpliVity offers customers a complete highly available solution consisting of three boxes, each serving as a back-up for its predecessor, which means that customers' data is protected and that this data can be converged if you want to move it to the cloud.
"We are consolidating technology and the cloud and providing this service at cloud economics. It's cheaper and easier to run one technology rather than multiple technologies," said Briedehann. "We would like to thank AxizWorkgroup for trusting us. We believe this will be a long, successful relationship."
AxizWorkgroup, as a current distributor of hardware platforms, will do the integration of SimpliVity's PCIE card on SimpliVity's behalf and this is one of the main drivers behind this partnership. "The reality is that we need to think about our product and its development on a global basis and so we need to start with a certified partner. We are happy to have found that partner in AxizWorkgroup," Briedehann continued.
SimpliVity VP for the EMEA region, Klaus Seidl, said: "I feel it is still early days but there is a very big market for this and we offer a very unique product. It won't happen overnight, but our aim is to change the face of IT. This is the right time for us now, which is why I am so happy about this partnership with AxizWorkgroup. With their client base and reach into the African regions, this is bound to be a very successful partnership."
