In an effort to provide support to South Africa's entrepreneurs, MTN Business is introducing its first annual Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass.

According to MTN Business, the initiative will provide SME owners with in-depth insights into running a digitally smart business. Entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to build a business Web site; they will also be equipped with vital skills on improving cyber security of their business and efficient usage of telecommunication devices.

Twitter representatives will also be available on site to demonstrate how social media will help to take their business to the next level using social media tools.

"The Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass is part of MTN Business objective of enabling South Africa's entrepreneurs to harness technology to compete effectively and grow sustainably," says David Mphelo, general manager: Enterprise Sales at MTN Business SA.

"As a proudly South African company, we have stepped up our initiatives across the board to encourage innovation, build a partner ecosystem that supports local business, and empower entrepreneurs."

The Digital Entrepreneur Masterclass will take place in Johannesburg on Thursday, 27 October. MTN Business says it plans to introduce the class in other major centres across the country in future.

"The aim is to impart knowledge to entrepreneurs about the challenges and opportunities faced in today's digital economy, and showcase solutions and services available through MTN Business's partner ecosystem," says MTN Business.

Included in the curriculum will be findings of the 2016 National Small Business Survey released by the National Small Business Chamber (NSBC), which will be presented by NSBC CEO Mike Anderson. This will assist entrepreneurs to learn about security and communications solutions, and get insights into how to mobilise your businesses and bring them online.

The event is open to all established businesses that are considering to leverage the power of technology to take their businesses to the next level. Entrepreneurs will also enjoy an opportunity to view solutions available from MTN Business and technology partners Samsung, Huawei, Hi-Sense, Lenovo, Sony and Blackberry, and networking with industry partners NSBC, IDC and National Gazelles.

"In our ongoing partnerships with entrepreneurs, we have found that it is not enough to offer industry-leading digital solutions and services - we need to provide them with tools that will empower them to successfully compete in the market space," concludes Mphelo.
