In order to help local Avaya resellers bridge the skills gap in Southern Africa, Westcon-Comstor has been appointed as an authorised training partner for Avaya.

According to Westcon-Comstor, resellers will with immediate effect be able to conduct all their Avaya training needs through the distributor's learning academy.

The Westcon-Comstor Academy provides knowledge and skills to resellers and system integrators through certified and bespoke training courses across major technology vendors throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Heinz Stephan, Services Solutions director, Southern Africa at Westcon-Comstor, says: "The extension of our training portfolio to include Avaya will enable resellers to tap into industry recognised tuition that is of a global standard and that is also internationally recognised."

The first 10 students to register for Avaya training through Westcon-Comstor will receive a 20% discount, says Westcon-Comstor.

The training material available to resellers through Weston-Comstor is made up of all accredited courses offered through the Avaya Learning Centre, it says.

The first courses scheduled from now until the end of the year will be based on IP Office expertise and technical enablement - with future dates earmarked for the whole of 2017, notes Westcon-Comstor.

When a company embraces hands-on training they provide their teams with the confidence and know-how of not only how to deploy but also make better use of the systems at their disposal, says Cherise Bhiki, services account manager at Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa.

"By giving them the keys to knowledge you will immediately benefit from improved system performance and new capabilities."

Says Jeffrey Smithies, senior manager at Avaya: "As the demand for Avaya's solutions grows across Africa we need partners who are able to bring the quality of a global experience to the people on the ground. Westcon-Comstor are already an authorised Avaya Learning Partner in North America and Europe, which makes extending this relationship to support the Southern Africa customer base a perfect fit."
