ITWeb Business Intelligence Summit 2017

Meet Valencia Cleinwerck, BI manager and lead developer at Spier at the 12th Business Intelligence Summit in March 2017. She will share a thought leadership piece on the softer side of BI. Registration is open and the agenda is live. Click here for the most updated agenda.

Emotionally intelligent leaders have the skills for more effective communication and interactions in the workplace. Emotional intelligence provides a foundation for improved leadership potential by equipping managers and executives with tools they can use in a wide variety of situations.

Valencia Cleinwerck, BI manager and lead developer at Spier, says emotional integrity and emotional intelligence lead to better leadership, which leads in turn to better business intelligence.

Cleinwerck will be presenting on 'The softer side of BI' at the ITWeb Business Intelligence Summit 2017, to be held at The Forum in Bryanston on 14 and 15 March.

She describes the softer side of BI as being the wheels that keep the engine moving forward. "It's the heart, a pump which moves the blood. An object continues in a state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless a net force acts upon it."

Speaking of how this 'heart' is used to benefit the business, she says: "It creates a win-win culture that has heart and heat with high performance standards and accountability, along with positive relational glue that keeps everyone supported and on the same team pushing and supporting each other towards great results that they all own together."

During her presentation, Cleinwerck will cover the impact that leaders have on a business, including how the vision, focus, attention, and the activities that create forward movement are defined by them, and how they create and sustain the emotional climate of the organisation and its culture.

In addition, delegates will learn how the unity and connectedness of the organisation and the teams are built or fragmented by leaders, and how the thinking and beliefs of the business are sown and grown by them.

Moreover Cleinwerck will discuss how leaders steward the performance and development of their teams, and that leaders will always get a combination of two things - what they allow and what they create.
