Security vendor and Dell Technologies subsidiary RSA has appointed Rohit Ghai as its president.

According to RSA, Ghai will be focused on RSA delivering solutions that help customers more strategically address their security transformation and better manage business risk.

He will succeed Amit Yoran, who was named chairman and CEO of Tenable Network Security in December. Ghai is currently president of Dell-EMC's enterprise content division, and his transition to RSA will be effective upon the close of the transaction of Dell-EMC's enterprise content division. Canadian business software maker OpenText in September 2016 agreed to buy Dell-EMC's enterprise content division for $1.62 billion.

Dell EMC and RSA are apart of the businesses that operate under the Dell Technologies umbrella, which was formed after the Dell and EMC merger.

"Under Rohit's leadership, RSA will continue to excel as one of the industry's most pervasive and influential security brands. RSA is perfectly positioned to help customers transform their security strategies well into the future," says Michael Dell, chairman and chief executive officer of Dell Technologies.

Ghai joined Dell-EMC from Symantec, where he held a variety of senior engineering and general management roles. Previously, he was at Computer Associates in a number of senior management roles. Prior to that, Ghai led the CA India operations as chief technology officer and he was also a development manager at Cheyenne Software.

He holds a master's degree in computer science from University of South Carolina and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.

According to RSA, Ghai also brings a wealth of expertise in digital transformation in highly regulated markets, has deep knowledge across the software industry and brings to RSA a focus on operational excellence.

"I've been fortunate to participate in many exciting industry and company transitions throughout my technology career and seven-year tenure with the Dell/EMC family. In my most recent venture, I enjoyed working with global organisations on managing business risk as they embarked on their digital transformation, says Ghai in a blog.

"The promise of the digital world is glorious, but the risks that organisations all too often encounter while getting there can be daunting."
