Registration is going full steam ahead, says the University of Johannesburg.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has registered over 13 000 students, which is close to one-quarter of the entire student body.

In a statement, professor Kinta Burger, who is the registrar at UJ, says this number confirms the online-only registration system is working smoothly and has been embraced by UJ students.

The university's online registration platform can be accessed 24/7 and anyone needing assistance can contact the call centre on (011) 559-4555, she adds.

Burger explains: "UJ's online registration system and chat facility plus the call centre, dealing with personal enquiries and giving guidance to students, are all contributing to make the 2017 registration process as effortless and seamless as possible.

"The call centre handled more than 85 000 calls and the UJ mobisite dealt with 89 818 queries."

UJ has joined higher education institutions like Tshwane University of Technology as well as Vaal University of Technology (VUT) to encourage online applications for prospective students.

According to the statement, since VUT initiated the self-help and online application process at its Vanderbijlpark Campus, the registration process has been smooth.

The 2017 registration process was made easy for all students and almost everything they needed to do was done under one roof, eliminating a lot of glitches, says VUT.
