Beauty on TApp, a mobile application that helps users find beauty services and beauty products in a location of their choice, has expanded to the UK and Nigeria.

According to Beauty on TApp, the locally developed app gives users information on the nearest hairstylists, make-up artists, hair braiders, and eyebrow threaders, wherever they are. The app has a ratings functionality so users can rate beauty salons they have recently visited.

Founded in 2015, the company previously only focused on South African listings. However, it recently secured two international listings: one from Lagos, Nigeria (Adeola Beauty salon) and the other from the UK (Eden Beauty Leeds hair salons).

Mathebe Molise, CEO and founder of Beauty on TApp, says the recent expansion speaks to a key objective which the company had from its inception.

"Beauty on TApp has always envisioned itself as a global app; we want users to find the app useful even when they are out of the country, on a business or holiday trip. We hope to add further listings from other countries. The app has given small and informal business owners in the beauty industry the opportunity to formalise their business profiles. Most mobile hairdressers, for example, don't necessarily have Web sites or social media pages, and Beauty on TApp has given them the opportunity to showcase and market their work."

The app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, has also been integrated with Uber, adds Molise.

"Users just have to click on 'get an Uber' and Beauty on TApp will input the salon physical address into the Uber destination tab. Another new feature is the ratings functionality, where users can rate beauty salons. This has proved to be beneficial to both users and beauty salons, through ensuring that businesses on the app provide quality services and more importantly, are genuine businesses with no malicious intent towards users," she explains.

Beauty on TApp is interfaced with a section that provides a directory of independent beauty product suppliers that is small businesses that sell hair extensions, natural hair products and skin products.

Molise says she founded the app after she struggled to find a make-up artist in Cape Town, and thought that it would be a good idea if one could log onto an app and have a directory with all the relevant beauty salon information. She then contacted digital company Dreamweave Digital, which developed the app.
