KnowRoaming's hardware-free roaming app, Roam Now!, will now be a native app on the Alcatel Pop 4-6 4G, A2 XL and A3 XL handsets. The application will allow for out-of-box seamless international roaming.
This was announced at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona. At last year's event, KnowRoaming, in collaboration with Alcatel and TCL Communications, launched its Soft SIM software platform, which automatically links users' devices to the best network while travelling - ensuring best rates.
The company is known for its SIM sticker that detects when users have left their home country and switches to a local carrier - eliminating the need to swop SIMs. The Soft SIM platform does not require a sticker.
The Roam Now! app has custom management tools and allows users to track data usage while abroad. App users will also be able to purchase unlimited data roaming packages.
KnowRoaming says the solution will also be available on the ZTE Blade V8, and it hopes to expand the offering to other manufacturers this year.

KnowRoaming Soft SIM unlimited data packages are available in 61 countries, including SA.
To make use of the app, users need to register their account in the app, add their credit card details and leave it until they travel. Once abroad, they need to turn roaming on, and when they return, turn it off again.
