Munich, 02 Mar 2017

News facts:

* Fujitsu now offers the most comprehensive portfolio of target backup appliances and integrated backup appliances.
* Enhanced portfolio provides solutions for all backup and archiving scenarios.
* Integrated appliance provides turnkey backup and disaster recovery, based onaward-winningVeritas NetBackup software.

Fujitsu provides the industry's widest choice of solutions for data protection with the addition of the Veritas NetBackup appliance to its portfolio. Regardless of the complexity or special requirements of any data landscape, Fujitsu offers the tools to back it up, providing customers with peace-of-mind in today's digital world: As enterprises undertake digital transformation, so managing and protecting ever-growing volumes of data is more critical than ever.

With the Veritas NetBackup appliance joining the line-up of ETERNUS CS target and integrated appliances, Fujitsu now offers customers a wider choice of data protection options than any other storage vendor. These data protection appliances help minimise business risk caused by missed backups and post-disaster data recovery failures, reducing the likelihood that sensitive data will be corrupted or unreadable.

NetBackup automates and standardises operations across applications, platforms, and virtual environments. Integrated deduplication, replication, and patent-pending virtual machine protection help improve storage efficiency, infrastructure use, and recovery times. Customers can count on backup appliances to address a wide-range of business requirements, ranging from support for remote or branch offices with limited IT staff, all the way to protecting data in corporate data centres. Appliances also provide backup for converged and hyper-converged infrastructures - such as Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX - and for software-defined infrastructures.

Michael Keegan, Head of Product Business at Fujitsu EMEIA, comments: "One of the pre-requisites for a successful transition to a digital business is to ensure that your valuable data is both accessible and protected. Data is the DNA of any digital organisation - yet it is a constant headache to manage, since it exists in real-time, and it keeps on changing and growing. This is why a backup strategy is vital for companies of all sizes. We are extending the Fujitsu data protection portfolio, through the addition of the Veritas NetBackup appliance. This effective, expandable system to protect valuable data is fast and simple to deploy and maintain. Fujitsu and Veritas have a long history of collaborating to provide customers with the peace of mind that their data is safe - and the introduction of the NetBackup appliance into the Fujitsu portfolio is the latest outcome of our long and successful partnership."

NetBackup software is used by tens of thousands of organisations worldwide. The Veritas NetBackup appliance combines software with its turnkey backup, recovery and deduplication solutions with an easy to deploy form factor. It enables customers to address a broad cross-section of scenarios, such as end-to-end deduplication for both physical and virtual environments, helping to reduce both network traffic and backup time.

"For over 23 years, Fujitsu and Veritas have delivered products and services that help customers address data management and protection challenges," says Rick Fairweather, Vice President, Global Partner Organisation Veritas Technologies. "We are very pleased to announce that Fujitsu is now offering the Veritas NetBackup appliance, further enabling our customers to harness the power of their information. The Veritas NetBackup appliance provides a wealth of new capabilities for modern data protection across virtual, cloud and physical environments."

Both Veritas NetBackup appliance models (NetBackup 5240 and NetBackup 5330) as well as the recently introduced NetBackup virtual appliance for remote offices, are immediately available for purchase from Fujitsu, worldwide via direct sales. Pricing is according to specification and country.
