SD-WAN company Riverbed Technology has appointed Roma Smith as its new regional director for Sub-Saharan Africa. Smith will take over sales leadership duties, facilitating technical and channel management teams in the region.

The company hopes her impact will strengthen its reputation, delivery and support to its channel partners and enterprise clients. She will report directly to regional vice president for UK, Ireland and SA, Allan Paton.

Smith has over 20 years of industry experience, having covered sales and technical management roles in the technology sector. She has held senior management and executive positions, including an MD role at EOH.

She has also served as a technical and operations director at Enterweb, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her profile also reads: "Roma is a disciplined process-driven executive that has extensive experience across all organisational disciplines with her key strengths veering towards operational, sales, delivery and technical management of a business."

Paton believes Smith will bring key skills to Riverbed which will help drive sales. She will "make sure our customers in Africa, one of Riverbed's key markets, have the necessary solutions in place to manage the performance of their business-critical applications in a hybrid IT environment," he says.
