New telephony interface solution released by Far South Networks

Cape Town, 04 Apr 2017

In today's world of IP-based communications, many businesses need a flexible means of migrating from their existing legacy infrastructure to these next generation networks. To help them overcome this challenge, Far South Networks, a local designer and manufacturer of next-generation IP telephony platforms, has launched version 2 of its popular Comma iTA product line.

While originally released in 2009, the new Comma iTA version 2 is an intelligent telephony adapter that has been optimised to support new generation four-port analogue cards, as well as existing Basic and Primary Rate ISDN cards.

According to Grant Broomhall, MD of Far South Networks, the company has a highly-regarded reputation for delivering products that integrate robust communications hardware with open standards based telephony software applications.

"The beauty of the new Comma iTA version 2 is that if you need to integrate legacy telecoms infrastructure into a more modern IP network, it is the perfect device to help you achieve this. On the other hand, if you have already invested in an earlier version of the solution, there is no need for you to upgrade or change. And if you do find that you need additional iTAs, you can easily combine the new version with the older models in your operation," he says.

He explains that the Comma iTA also provides a means of creating a scalable telecoms solution when integrating legacy infrastructure within the Far South Networks Com.X and Wanderbox range of SIP Gateways and PBXs. Broomhall indicates that the business client can add additional telecoms trunks and lines to suit their company's growing telecoms requirements, without needing to replace any existing equipment.

"There are many benefits offered by the new Comma iTA version 2 solution. For one thing, it delivers a more flexible port allocation, with two port granularity. It comes with long-term production support and offers lower power consumption, meaning less heat is generated. In addition to higher quality audio and lower EMC/EMI noise, perhaps the most tangible benefits of all are the fact that it delivers greater reliability at a lower cost."

"We are very excited about the new Comma iTA product, as it has been designed to operate in harsh environments, provides high resilience to lightning and power surge events, all while offering telco grade performance. There is no doubt that this solution is the answer for all businesses seeking a cost-effective, flexible and comprehensive telephony interface solution," concludes Broomhall.
