Tough printers for tough conditions

Johannesburg, 24 Apr 2017

When it comes to printing solutions, quality and speed are not negotiable. Whether for heavy-duty industrial printing or simple office print jobs, the printer used must offer the right specifications as well as guaranteed outputs.

The Microplex range of printers, available across the continent through specialist distributer PDC, provides solutions tailored to many industrial applications. The Microplex offering ranges from industrial thermals to continuous and cut-sheet industrial laser printers.

logiJET TC8, for example, is an eight-inch thermal transfer printer developed for industrial deployment and designed to withstand toughest demands. It slots in ideally for hazardous materials labelling, price labelling, logistics and pharmaceutical applications.

Equipped with two print modules that may be fitted with any colour, the TC8 is housed in a robust metal case and is robust, fast, reliable and easy to use. Its easy handling of consumables and simple operation makes it ideal for the demanding requirements inherent in industrial settings, and with integrated PCL5c printer language, the logiJET TC8 can directly replace a standard laser printer with a simple, fast and inexpensive connection to SAP.

"The TC8 is the best entry-level continuous format printer on the market," says Frikkie Koegelenberg, COO of PDC. With the looming GHS Labelling compliance on 1 June 2017 around the corner, the logiJET TC8 is perfectly suited for the individual production of GHS compliant hazard warning labels. The optimised print technology and the easy adaptation and connection to commonly used software systems makes the logiJET TC8 the first choice for your application."

When it comes to laser printers, Microplex offers mono as well as colour options with speeds from 26ppm up to 166ppm. The SOLID F40 is the most economical printer in its class. Inexpensive to purchase and to operate, Koegelenberg says it prints on paper, PVC, plastic, and a number of other materials. "As a continuous laser printer for medium printing volumes, it covers a very broad spectrum of deployment areas. It is ideal for label batch printing, ticket printing, and business and logistics documents," he adds.

"The F40 is the perfect upgrade from line matrix printers to laser technology, and has become the replacement printer of choice for discontinued laser printers. Boasting a powerful MPC controller, it guarantees connection versatility, easy system integration and high printing performance."

The F40 continuous form laser printer performs at up to 40 pages per minute, equalling 2 000 lines per minute, with 600 DPI high-quality printing.

The SOLID 60E-2 printer also offers resolutions of up to 600 DPI, with flash fusion technology enabling it to print on a wide variety of media. A cost-effective, reliable continuous form printer, the SOLID 60E-2 can be used to produce pressure-sensitive labels, tags, and high-tack adhesives, among many other applications.

Koegelenberg explains the SOLID 60E-2 has a small footprint, making it easy to fit into any environment. "A cost-effective production laser printer suited for markets such as the label batch printing, ticket printing, business and logistics documents as well as utilities, banks and government printing requirements, the SOLID 60E-2 provides a specialist solution for specialist requirements."

However robust the requirements, Microplex provides high performance printing, he adds. "Whether for packaging or any other continuous tough conditions, Microplex printers meet tight timelines with tough end products produced by tough printers. These printers were designed with these types of uses in mind, and with their continuous batch processing, accomplish demanding tasks with impressive speed and at a level of quality you can always rely on."
