Dubai Department of Finance launches Government Service Price Portal

Chooses Qlik Analytics Platform to deliver custom-built applications for six sectors, portal now open to the public.

Johannesburg, 28 Apr 2017

Qlik, a leader in visual analytics, today announced that Dubai Government's Department of Finance (DOF) has selected the Qlik Analytics Platform to deliver an intuitive visual data analytics experience to its constituents.

By officially launching the Government Service Prices Portal, DOF has introduced the public - including individuals, government entities, and private sector companies - to the tariffs and fines approved by the Dubai government. The portal lists thousands of price lines accredited by 23 government entities in Dubai distributed into six sectors, in both Arabic and English.

The Government Service Prices Portal system is developed using the Qlik Analytics Platform, an open platform on which Qlik's global community of developers can build custom analytic applications based on rich front-end and back-end application programming interfaces (APIs). DOF is the first government entity to use this platform to build open data systems in the Middle East. Utilising Qlik's platform enabled DOF to develop, extend and embed visual analytics in government portals - all done within a common governance and security framework.

Huda Hamdan Al Shaikh, Director of Technical Support and Development Division, DOF, said: "In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, we are committed to contribute to the digital transformation process in Dubai, and to make the city one of the happiest and smartest in the world.

"DOF continues to keep pace with the visions and aspirations of the government entities and private sector companies in Dubai, as well as meeting the expectation of Dubai's residents by providing easy access to information on the prices of government service fees and fines, among others. Therefore, we were so keen to implement the Government Service Prices Portal project to provide the prices of all government services in all its categories and in the various revenue channels, building on the principles of openness and transparency which we abide to," she added.

Kerry Koutsikos, Country Manager of MEA & Turkey at Qlik, commented: "We are proud to have been selected by DOF as the visual analytics platform for their Service Prices Portal. In support of the Open Data Initiative in Dubai, we are determined to help them achieve their goals of making data accessible in an easy and meaningful way to allow more people to gain self-service, data-driven insights in a visually appealing way."
