Obscure Technologies has signed a partnership agreement with Wombat Security Technologies bringing to market industry-leading cyber security education and training for organisations and their employees. The Wombat Continuous Training Methodology allows organisations to integrate security assessments, customised interactive training, client industry-specific awareness materials and comprehensive reporting features into a single view "education centre".
Wombat Security's Cyber-security awareness and training solutions are designed to help organisations leverage security awareness training so that employees become part of their company's active defence against growing cyber attacks. Features of the program include the ability to monitor employee completion of assignments and deliver automatic reminders about training deadlines.
Wombat's training platform helps businesses manage their security awareness training and employee assessment program from one cloud-based system, and enables, among other exercises, security officers to deploy mock phishing attacks which create teachable moments to help employees become receptive to more in-depth training.
The program, able to train global employees in multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese and French, also lets IT security professionals select from a set of training modules, each under 10 minutes, that teach practical advice to avoid numerous user-targeted threats, including up-to-date attacks.
"As Obscure Technologies, we believe that one of the security elements that is almost always overlooked or lacking, is the security awareness training that companies offer to their employees. It is becoming more and more prevalent today with the rise of ransomware, phishing attacks, malware and social media scams. Our partnership with Wombat and their world leading security awareness training addresses these shortcomings through easy, innovative, online training courses that embraces tuition for executives, security specialists and employees; addressing the much-needed security knowledge gap within all industries and markets," said Morn'e Janse van Rensburg (CTO Obscure Technologies) in a statement.
Other features of the program include the ability to monitor employee completion of assignments and deliver automatic reminders about training deadlines, identify the users, or groups of users, who have the best or worst understanding of critical risk areas, and show measurable knowledge improvement over time with reports for executive management.
According to a recent survey of 200 C-level executives at US-based enterprises conducted by Opinion Matters on behalf of ThreatTrack Security, there is broad concern among enterprises about the vulnerability of their systems against cyber attacks. More than two-thirds of C-level executives are concerned their companies will not be able to stop such threats, and one in five say their biggest concern is not knowing whether an attack is under way. The study revealed a whopping 97% of enterprises with annual security budgets of more than $1 million still report concerns that they are vulnerable to malware attacks and cyber-espionage tactics, and 69% of executives were concerned that their organisations may be vulnerable to targeted malware attacks, advanced persistent threats (APTs) and other sophisticated cyber-crime and cyber-espionage tactics.
