Hangman will air in October.

Cell C's second foray into content creation will be in the form of Hangman, an online reality show that aims to uncover SA's greatest innovator, with the winner receiving R1 million in prize money.

This follows #BreakTheNet, an online talent hunt reality show that streamed on the service provider's Cell C Reality App last year.

"Cell C's strategic focus is around bringing relevance to the South African market through service offerings," says Jose Dos Santos, Cell C CEO.

"A key focus is providing value-added services and segmented content that is being consumed daily online. Customers are hungry for new, unique, fresh and entertaining content."

The interactive 10-part Hangman series puts its viewers in the 'driver's seat' and lets them invest in a virtual stock exchange. This allows them to help determine the outcome of the show.

Contestants will have to prove their ability through a series of challenges as well as win the approval of 'backers': businessmen and investors. These include Phuti Mahanyele, Iraj Abedian, Quinton van der Burgh and Bonang Mohale.

"We are not seeking out a great businessman looking for an investment for a daily run-of-the-mill business or the sharp up-and-coming exec looking for a six-figure salary. It's all about the innovators," says Bl!nk Pictures director Odette Schwegler, who was commissioned by Cell C to produce Hangman.

Anyone can take part in the competion or view the show through the free Cell C Reality App on Android or iOS.

Access within the app will be zero-rated for Cell C customers.

Entry is open from 21 June to 21 July, with the show streaming online from 9 October to 11 December.
