Riaan Burger has returned to StatPro SA as a senior analytics consultant, the cloud-based portfolio analytics and asset pricing services provider announced this week.

Burger previously worked at StatPro SA as a consultant and client services manager for seven years before becoming an independent consultant.

With South African investment firms well advanced in their use of StatPro's solutions, Burger has been appointed to support growth in the US, says the company. He will initially be based in StatPro's Cape Town office in SA, but will relocate to Boston through the course of 2018.

"StatPro has a large penetration in the South African institutional investment market, which is a highly sophisticated market in terms of its requirements for portfolio analytics," says Burger.

"I believe its strategic decision to shift to cloud technology several years ago has put it ahead of competitors from a software architecture point of view. I therefore decided to re-join to assist with strategic client conversations in North America."

Burger holds a BCom degree in institutional investments, as well as a Hons BCom in financial risk management, both from the University of Stellenbosch, and a chartered financial analyst qualification from the CFA Institute. He obtained global recognition as a financial risk manager from the Global Association of Risk Professionals in 2013.

Burger lists his specialities as performance measurement, performance attribution, fixed income attribution, GIPS compliance, financial risk management, investment reporting, project management, process reviews, process automation and data management.

Craig Arenhold, StatPro SA CEO, says the company is delighted to welcome Burger back. "Few consultants have his breadth of experience, and we believe he has a great deal to contribute to growing the StatPro brand across both our local and international markets."
