The Nokia brand is officially back in SA and the company is not only peddling the 3310 reinvention but mid-range smartphones too.

The Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 will be available to buy in SA by the end of July.

HMD Global, the Finnish company that owns the rights to use Nokia's brand on mobile phones, says the handsets will be priced under R4 000 and deliver a 'pure' Android experience - meaning there will be no added bloatware on top of the operating system.

The range, including the Nokia 3 and Nokia 3310, were unveiled in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.

Justin Maier, HMD Global Sub-Saharan Africa VP, says: "I believe HMD Global will be able to offer something for everyone. I am looking forward to this new chapter in Africa for Nokia phones."

The Nokia 6 features a full HD, 5.5-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 16MP primary camera. It also has a smart audio amplifier with dual speakers for stereo sound. The device will be available in black, silver and blue. The recommended retail price is R3 699.

The slightly smaller 5.2-inch Nokia 5 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and 8MP 84-degree wide-angle front-facing camera. It will be available in black, silver, blue and copper. The recommended retail price is R2 999.

The Nokia 3 is currently available for R1 999 and the 3310 sells for R750.
